Hi everyone. I hope you are well. I’m Jane and I work at Carers UK. You may welcome some more support on navigating the social care system.
Our Being heard - self-advocacy guides for carers are nation specific guides suggesting ways to communicate effectively with professionals and providing some key sources of support to help navigate the system whether you’re trying to access benefits, complain about a service or get some social care cover or support. The guides are available to download here: Being Heard - a self-advocacy guide for carers | Carers UK (The England version is out of stock currently unfortunately, but we are planning to reprint this and the pdf is available in the meantime.)
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to get in touch or for any specific concerns, please email one of our advisers on advice@carersuk.org
Best wishes,
Jane
Thanks Jane for highlighting this amazing guide. Tony
just tried to get a printed copy and it’s out of stock.
Far too many pages to print off
Hi Judith,
Sorry to hear that. May I check which version you were trying to order?
Many thanks,
Jane
Hi Judith,
Happy Carers Rights Day! I’ve managed to track down a spare copy for you. I will send you a private message to find out how best to get this to you.
All the best,
Jane
Thank you Jane, I’ve responded to your privaste message.
I used to write a magazine for 20 years, printed at home with up to 50 colour pictures on a commercial laser printer.
I am VERY conscious of printing costs as a result and very annoyed when my local SSD send things out that I can’t print off because of their obsession for making things look pretty, coloured boxes, huge photos etc.
Maybe CUK could write a condensed leaflet for downloading?
No pictures, no coloured blocks of colour, no colour ink?
Reducing “white space” - to save paper as well as ink.
This is very easy to do on my Microsoft Publisher, so I’m sure that CUK could do it very quickly and easily.
As a retired parent carer I get no CA, the LA won’t give me direct payments even when caring 168 hours a week.
Every penny counts!
